Let's Let the Cat Out of the Bag Print E-mail
Monday, 08 June 2009

We all know that using plastic shopping bags is a very poor choice for the environment. Paper bags are a better choice for the environment because plastic bags will stay in our landfills for thousands of years. Paper bags usually decompose with in a month. Each year the United States uses 30 billion plastic bags and 10 billion paper grocery bags. That processing uses 12 million barrels of oil and 14 million trees.
A better alternative to paper and plastic is reusing the same bags every week. Rather than having just one bag have several bags handy for your groceries. Every time you finish your grocery-shopping put your reusable shopping bags back in your car and don't forget to bring them into the grocery store, drugstore, and even the video store every time you shop.
Your parents might not know this so tell them too.
