Bleeding control kits have been donated to the North Pocono School District from Geisinger. North Pocono was awarded the kits for their participation in the national Stop the Bleed program. North Pocono is recognized as the first school in the area to offer the training program to the faculty. Containing plastic gloves, gauze, tourniquets and easy-to-follow instructions, the bleeding control kits are designed to be used by anyone to help control bleeding during a traumatic incident. "Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death in someone who is injured," said Dr. Brian Frank, Geisinger Community Medical Center trauma surgeon and co-chair of Geisinger's Stop the Bleed program. The wall mounted bleeding control stations, containing 8 individual kits, will be hung in an easily accessible location in each building near the Automated External Defibrillators (AED's).
