Mrs. Jamie McHugh
Assistant Principal for Athletics
The North Pocono School District's athletic programs are overseen by high school Assistant Principal for Athletics, Mrs. Jamie McHugh. Mrs. McHugh holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Athletic Training and Health and Physical Education from Marywood University, PDE certification in Driver Education and Safety from East Stroudsburg University, a Master of Arts degree in Sport Coaching from the University of Northern Colorado, and a PDE K-12 Principal certification from Marywood University. Before assuming her current role in 2021, Mrs. McHugh taught health and physical education at North Pocono for 17 years and served as a coach or assistant coach for teams at the youth, high school, and college level.
North Pocono provides PIAA-sanctioned interscholastic athletic opportunities for student-athletes in grades 7-12 in thirteen different sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, rifle, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and wrestling. In addition, North Pocono provides cheerleading opportunities. Many sports have teams for both boys and girls, as well as for multiple age/skill levels, including junior high, freshman, junior varsity, and varsity.
North Pocono is a member of PIAA District II; teams play the majority of their regular season contests in a six-county region that includes Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming counties. Within District II, North Pocono is a member of the Lackawanna Interscholastic Athletic Association (LIAA). Teams compete in various size classifications as assigned by the PIAA (and subject to modification every two years). For the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons, North Pocono will compete in the following classifications.
AAAAA: Girls' basketball, Boys' baseball, Boys' basketball
AAAA: Girls' softball, Boys' football
AAA: Girls' golf, Girls' soccer, Girls' track & field, Girls' volleyball, Boys' golf, Boys' soccer, Boys' track & field, Boys' wrestling
AA: Girls' cross country, Girls' lacrosse, Girls' tennis, Boys' cross country, Boys' lacrosse, Boys' tennis, Boys' volleyball
