Accounts
The North Pocono School District cafeterias utilize an electronic management system for all cafeteria services. Within this system is a unique meal account for each currently enrolled student that holds funds for cafeteria purchases. Operating on a pre-paid basis, the system allows parents and students to deposit funds into the student's account that can, in turn, be used for cafeteria purchases such as meals, snacks, and beverages. Please find below the policies that apply to these accounts.
General Information
- Individual student accounts are set up for each student upon enrollment.
- Students must pre-deposit funds into their account in order to make purchases in the cafeteria. Students who apply and qualify for free meals under the National School Lunch Program, however, can purchase meals without funds in their accounts.
- To make a purchase in the cafeteria, students will use the procedure selected by their individual building. In buildings that have students scan their ID badges to access their lunch account in the serving line, students must bring their ID to school daily. In buildings that have students enter a five-digit PIN number to access their lunch account in the serving line, students must memorize the PIN number.
- Parents can monitor their child's account and deposit funds online. Please visit https://www.npsd.org, locate the "Families" menu at the top, and select "Meal Payments" (you will be required to create an account the first time).
- Parents may notify the food service department in writing of their request to block or limit any charging to their child's account.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the food service department at (570) 842-1701.
Making Deposits
- There are two methods for making deposits.
- Method #1: Sending a deposit into school with your child in an envelope
- Students in grades K-3 that would like to bring their deposit to school should give their deposit envelope to their teacher in charge. All other grades will drop their deposits off in a designated area of the cafeteria. Please be sure to write your child's name and grade on the front of the envelope and to seal the envelope.
- Deposits can be made with personal checks and and money orders. We do not recommend sending cash in an envelope.
- Personal checks and money orders should be made payable to: North Pocono School District Cafeteria. Your child's name or student id# is required to be on your check.
- Personal checks are cashed and processed with the bank on the same day of business. Post dated checks will not be accepted. Please be sure to have sufficient funds.
- Method #2: Making an online deposit
- The online system currently accepts cards with a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover logo.
- The system can be accessed through the North Pocono School District website under the Quicklinks menu by clicking Meal Payments. You will be required to create an account the first time you visit the site.

A la Carte Purchases
- All snacks, alternate beverages, second portions, and non-program food are considered a la carte items. These items must be purchased using funds available on your child's account or by payment made at the cash register. If no balance is available, these items will be removed from the child's tray.
- Students receiving free or reduced priced meals must have sufficient funds available on their account if they wish to purchase a la carte items.
Negative Balances and Returned Checks
- We urge you to prevent your child's account from being depleted by checking their accounts regularly and setting up email alerts. It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to ensure that their child's account is in good standing.
- Once an account shows a negative balance of $5.00 or more, an email will be sent from no-replyfoodservices@npsd.org to the email address on file requesting payment. Please be sure to check your spam and the email address that the school has on file for you.
- Negative balances will be satisfied first from any current deposits made to the account. Any funds that remain will be available for purchases.
- If checks are returned due to insufficient funds, a letter from the district office will be sent to your home requesting re-payment of check value plus the bank fee.
- Returned checks will be subject to a $15.00 bank fee which will be charged to your child's account.
- Once a check has been returned due to insufficient funds, checks will not be accepted for any future deposits.
