Curriculum

The Curriculum Office works with teachers to develop and maintain a K-12, challenging, and relevant curriculum that aligns with the standards set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the demands of a global society in the 21st century. The office is led by Mr. Ian R. Farr, Assistant to the Superintendent. A graduate of North Pocono High School, Mr. Farr holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education English from Bloomsburg University, a Master of Science degree in Classroom Technology from Wilkes University, and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership with Principal Certification from Wilkes University. Over the course of 20 years, Mr. Farr served as a middle school English teacher, an assistant principal, and a building principal at North Pocono before being named to his current position.

Curriculum is a living document that must respond to the ever-changing realities of our world and the advancement of human knowledge. Unless there are major changes in regulations, curriculum is revised on a multi-year cycle, ensuring that it addresses changes in state standards, emerging content, and advances in educational research. 

In addition to developing curriculum, the office is responsible for marshalling board approval for curriculum, ensuring the effective implementation of the curriculum, professional development of district employees, student testing, data analysis, and the selection of instructional resources (such as textbooks and software).
