Scales - Competencies

Students in Kindergarten do not receive scores for the quarter in traditional courses.  Instead, they receive progress marks with regard to individual skills (or competencies).  Reports use a scoring set appropriate for the competency. For competencies using "KEY" scoring, valid scores are:

A = Exceeds standards
S = Secure/applies skill correctly
D = Developing/some understanding
NG = Attention: slow/no progress
X = Not yet evaluated

Students in Kindergarten in some special subjects, such as physical education, receive a score that is not based on a particular competency but on their performance as a whole. For these courses, valid scores are "O," "S," and "U."
